In the development of the power industry, both ordinary distribution cabinets and power distribution cabinets play a crucial and pivotal role; though they belong to the same industry, they have significant differences:
I. Definition: The enclosure that distributes electrical power is called a standard distribution cabinet. Meanwhile, a power cabinet refers to an electrical combination unit designed to supply the necessary power for the smooth operation of an entire machine, incorporating components such as contactors, variable frequency drives, high-voltage cabinets, transformers, and more.
II. Functions: The distribution cabinet controls and distributes power to electrical equipment, while also providing protection against overload, short circuits, and leakage currents in the circuitry. The motor control center supplies power to electrical devices (providing them with an energy source) and allows operators to start and stop these devices via dedicated start/stop buttons. Additionally, it monitors equipment operation by incorporating signal indicator lights and featuring ammeters and voltmeters. Finally, the cabinet safeguards connected equipment through circuit breakers. A switchgear is a complete assembly of switching and control devices, serving as both the power distribution hub and the main distribution unit. It is primarily used for controlling, monitoring, measuring, and protecting electrical circuits and connected equipment.
3. Uses: Distribution cabinets are installed in various locations such as schools, government offices, factories, hospitals, workshops, and homes, while power cabinet electrical boxes are typically placed in substations, distribution rooms, and other similar areas.
